Honda VTX 1300 & Honda VTX 1800 Batwing Fairing
If you’re a Honda VTX rider, you know you’ve got an incredible machine. Whether it’s the super powerful 1800 or the fast and economical 1300, you’re riding a V-twin-powered cruiser designed for the long haul. And when you’re taking the long way home, a Vector Batwing Fairing can make the journey a whole lot more comfortable.
Like all Vector Batwings, the Honda VTX fairing is carefully laid out by hand, using lightweight and strong fiberglass. The same material you expect to find at a racecourse. No cheap ABS plastic here. The tough, smooth gelcoat finish resists scratches, so it’ll look as good when you get home as it did when you left.
VTX stands for V-Twin-eXtreme as the 1800 engine was the largest displacement production V-twin in the world when it was introduced. But, the bike’s design and reputation leads us to believe riders are also looking for X-treme comfort. And our Honda VTX Batwing Fairing is designed to make a great cruiser even better.
These fairings are designed to fit the Honda VTX models listed below but there are many different models, factory upgrades, and custom aftermarket parts so some modification may be necessary. Each fairing comes with one clear and one tinted windshield at no additional cost.
(1) Base Price - Smooth Front Fairing
(2) Base Price + $30.00 - Simulated Vent Fairing - Accepts digital media receiver and not a traditional single DIN head unit
NOTE: The Vector Batwing Fairing Does Not have a functioning vent. The words “simulated vent” and “vented-look” refer to the cosmetic design of this fairing, which makes it appear to have a vent. We do not offer a truly vented fairing.
Look like crap. Has a 1/2" overhang where you can see unfinished fiberglass all the way around the seams. Wish I could post pictures of it so everyone could see what I'm talking about. If I could buy one somewhere else I would send it back.
2 years ago I purchased a cheaper fairing from another company. The size and shape was far too off to be reasonably modified to fit, so I sent it back and abandoned the project. Then I found the Vector Batwing. Yes, it was pricier but it worked very nicely and came (mostly) ready to accept a single DIN stereo unit. The website clearly states it will likely require some modification and improvising to install the fairing. I do feel like it took a little more modification than I would have expected. For example, the singe DIN slot needed to be slightly enlarged. I also had to cut the rivet nuts off of the included triple tree brackets and use the inside of the bracket rather than the outside as the brackets were too far apart. I also had to enlarge the speaker holes. I guess better to be too small than too big, you can always make it bigger but cant make it smaller. I did feel the triple tree brackets shouldn’t have had to have been modified though. Overall, this is an excellent product. It looks VERY nice on my bike. It gives lots of wind protection, I even notice a difference in the wind felt on my legs. And I was able to install a stereo system with plenty of power and great sound quality and also adding wind protection for less money than going with other systems such as a Steel Horse Audio system.
I would give it 4 stars due to the extra modification requires, but I also feel that you wont find a better after market batwing fairing for the VTX. Highly recommend!
Had to make a couple modifications but I love the look.
It fit perfect
The fairing mounted easily, and required no modification to get fit up to the bike. I chose the 6"x9" speaker option and went with a set of Kicker marine coaxials. I had to Dremel out the cutouts slightly, but some modification is to be expected with slight variances between speaker styles/manufacturers. There was plenty of space inside of the fairing to mount my amp as well (I mounted mine to the back of my source unit). It creates a decent wind diversion that could be made better with a taller windshield installed. All in all this fairing is a great buy and I will look to Vector for my next fairing.
Had a small problem with package but company took care of it so I am very satisfied. Had to modify the mounts with a grinder so they would install correctly (this is a very specific problem only with the VTX1800S2 so I expected it). One thing I think should be mentioned about the mounts for the VTX1800 is that the bottom bolt used is the headlight mount bolts so you don't have to drill the lower tripletree. When mounted the fairing is solid and very adjustable for clearances around lights exc. I was able to mount my existing lightbar and fog lights by adding 1/2" spacers under headlight mount and mounting the fog lights to the bar from the bottom (I really wanted those lights). By the way Harley windshields for 96-13 batwings work on this fairing after you sand off about 3/16" on the bottom sides of the winshield on each side. I wanted a taller shield that are not available from this company.
fast shipping, good finish looks great, as described on the website if I need one for another bike I will definitely buy from them again
2004 VTX 1300 - Mounts perfect looks great, outer and inner seal appear to seal well, had to use dremel to get kenwood marine head unit to fit, but can not expect a "one size fits all here anyway. The 6x9 slots fit the marine Infinity just fine. There is room inside the fairing to mount your marine amp as well. Does not create as much of an air diversion over and around as I would have liked but still blocks a lot of it off of you.
